Low Price, Good Quality and Powerfull Enough
OK, so talking about waste disposers can be considered by some to be a little on the boring side. However, I think this attitude tends to come from people that don’t use them. For me, they’re a bit like dishwashers. Once you have one, you never look back. Plus, when you have one and it breaks down, you really miss having it around.
Garbage Disposal Essentials
So, if you’re looking for the best garbage disposal, what do you want from it?
Let me put a few points down in black and white for you:
- Won’t take up a lot of space
- Doesn’t wake the kids when you switch it on – in other words, it’s quiet!
The Waste King L-1001
In my humble opinion, I think the Waste King L-1001 garbage disposer is one of the best middle range units on the market.
I’m going to deal with each point as I’ve mentioned above so you have an idea of why this is one of my top picks in the Waste King Legend range:
If you don’t already know, Waste King has one of the best reputations on the market for reliability with their waste disposals. As many of you WILL already know, this type of kitchen appliance can be prone to corrosion because it’s constantly in contact with water (not to mention all that liquefied food).
Waste King has gone one step further. The internal parts on the L-1001 are made from an anti-corrosion material which shouldn’t ever be affected in this way.
This is backed up by a 2 year in-home warranty which means a professional will come to your home and replace the defective unit with a new one. You won’t have to mess around with taking it out, boxing it up and sending it away. It also means you won’t be left without your garbage disposal.
Having a garbage disposer as I’ve mentioned makes life in the kitchen much easier and actually cleaner but, some models will mean you lose a good deal of storage space under your sink. This unit measures a mere 13.4 by 6.4 inches, so you won’t have to worry about where to store your cleaning products.
This is a major problem for a lot of people, and again Waste King has addressed the issue. The moving parts within the L-1001 are insulated so you get very little vibration, and you don’t have to be afraid the noise will wake the kids (the last thing you need after a long day)!
Well, I already gave my opinion away at the beginning of this review, so it won’t come as a surprise that I recommend the Waste King L-1001. For the price, I don’t think you can find anything better (you can check the price here).
I’m not saying you should rush out and immediately buy this particular model because it might not be exactly what you’re looking for. For instance, if you want a little more power, you can take a look at the Waste King L-3300 which I’ve also reviewed. This one has a ¾ horsepower motor and is slightly larger, but just as reliable.
- Waste King L-3300 3/4 HP Garbage Disposal
- General Electric GFC520V 1/2 Horsepower
- Whirlaway 291 0.5 HP Garbage Disposal
- Waste King L-8000 Legend Series 1.0-Hp Garbage Disposal
- Waste King 1/2 HP L-2600 Garbage Disposer
